(March 14, 2019) This afternoon it was made
known to the Dirt Racing community that dirt racing legend and current Lucas Oil Series regular Scott Bloomquist was injured and hospitalized after a motorcycle accident. This news comes on the eve of the regular season Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Atomic Speedway. The extent of Scott's injures were not available this afternoon but in a post on his Twitter account we have learned that the injuries were sustained to his right leg and hip. The time of healing and when he will return is still to be determined. His Twitter post indicated a time of healing and therapy and he appreciated all the prayers and support.
Scott currently sits fourth in Lucas Oil Series points after speedweeks and his return is indefinite at this time. Scott will be missing a Lucas double dip this weekend at Atomic Speedway in Ohio and Brownstown Speedway in Indiana. No plan of a backup driver to pilot the "Zero" has been made known at this time. Bloomquist is the defending race winner of tomorrow night's Buckeye 50 at Atomic Speedway.
