On Tuesday afternoon the World Racing Group came out with their punishments to driver and crew member for their on-track antics Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway during the World of Outlaw Late Model Series USA Nationals.

On lap 85 Tyler Erb who was running fourth brought out the yellow for spinning in turn three after contact with fifth place running Bobby Pierce. During the yellow flag period Tyler made several attempts to retaliate against Bobby. This included a nose to nose face off in turn two. During this retaliation from Erb, crew chief and Hall of Famer Bob Pierce entered the track in an attempt to confront Tyler. Bob got to Tyler's window and made attempts to confront Tyler for his attempts to retaliate against his son's race car. In the exchange Bob and a Series official ended up stumbling away as Tyler drove off.

Both Erb and Pierce were in violation of unsportsmanlike conduct that had to be addressed and dealt with. For safety measures and the conduct expected from their competitors World Racing Group had to hand down consequences.

Tyler Erb has been suspended indefinitely from all World of Outlaw and DIRTcar Racing sanctioned events. He has also been fined $5,000 that will have to be paid before he returns to racing once his suspension is lifted.

The rules violated by Erb include:

11.1.C – Unsportsmanlike conduct or participating in any action or activity considered detrimental to DIRTcar racing or a DIRTcar sanctioned track, at any sanctioned event or on social media, by drivers, owners and/or pit crews shall be grounds for disqualification and/or punitive action by DIRTcar Racing.

11.1.F – Any member and/or participant who drives or causes to be driven: a race car, pit mule, ATV, 4-Wheeler, personal vehicle or transporter in a dangerous and aggressive manner will be subject to penalty and/or disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or legal action and/or any other action deemed appropriate by World Racing Group Supervisory Officials.

11.1.J – Any member and/or participant who attempts to drive roughly and/or hits another competitor unnecessarily will be subject to penalty and/or disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or legal action and/or any other action deemed appropriate by World Racing Group Supervisory Official

Bob Pierce has been suspended for 30 days from all World of Outlaw and DIRTcar Racing sanctioned events. He has been fined $1,000 and will be on probation for 6 months for his actions in Saturday night's event.

The rules violated by Pierce include:

5.5.D – Any driver, crew member or team associate that enters the race surface without express approval from an official are subject to disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or any other action deemed appropriate by World Racing Group Supervisory Officials.

11.1.E – Any member and/or participant involved in an altercation that results in physical contact will be subject to penalty and/or disqualification and/or fine and/or suspension and/or legal action and/or any other action deemed appropriate by World Racing Group Supervisory Officials.

These penalties will be a big affect to the two teams involved in the incident Saturday night. This means Tyler Erb will not be able to compete in the World 100 or a Eldora Speedway event that will happen next month. This would include at this time no competition in the remainder of the Summer Nationals, remaining World of Outlaw events in 2020 and depending on how long this suspension last, no Volusia Speedweeks in 2021 for Tyler Erb.

As far as Bob Pierce he will not be able to enter the tracks son Bobby Pierce chooses to compete in during the next month. This would include on Bobby's current schedule a four race swing August 20-23 out East with World of Outlaws, Mars Racing Series events September 3-5, and the opening night of Eldora World 100 that Bob would not be allowed to crew for the #32 team.
