Chris Madden is the hottest driver in all of dirt late model racing. But his hot streak will be haulted for a time after a accident Tuesday morning at Mansfield Motor Speedway. Chris had an accident on a golf cart that at first seemed to be a few bruises but after further evaluation something more seemed to be wrong. Chris hit a bump and fell off the golf cart. He was taken to a local Mansfield Emergency Room and it was determined that he had a fractured eye socket. Chris then was transferred to Ohio State Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where it is believed that he will undergo surgery to correct the fracture.

His wife posted on social media asking for prayers and that herself and Chris' mother was on their way Tuesday night to be by Chris' side.

This comes on the cusp of Scott Bloomquist Racing co-owner Cody Sommers huge event dubbed the Dirt Million. Drivers including Chris Madden were set to battle for an over $300,000 total purse Saturday night. Cody has announced via team statement that Chris will not compete in this weekends event and no replacement driver has been announced.

Chris Madden has undoubtedly been the best driver in the dirt late model world over the past month. After being without a ride mid-summer, Scott Bloomquist Racing put him in a second car. It made sense to pair Madden up with Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist as Chris drove a Bloomquist Chassis in the past. The chemistry was instant as in his first outing he finished 2nd in the Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway. He followed it up with 3 crown jewel wins in a row. Chris won over $150,000 in 3 weeks winning the US Nationals, North-South 100 and this past weekend the Topless 100.

At this time a timeline of return is uncertain. Chris has made statements lately that he will win the World 100 coming up in two and half weeks at the historic Eldora Speedway. Time will tell if a return by Eldora will be possible. One thing is true the late model community will sense a hole this weekend without Madden's presence at Mansfield.
