(January 12, 2019) Ten laps into Friday night's Wild West Shootout event it appeared that the Quarter Million Keyser Manufacturing dream was over for Bobby Pierce as he slipped back into the fifth position after starting on the front row for the third event of the mini-series. Kyle Beard from Arkansas came out of nowhere on Friday night and showed alot of speed and many wondered if he would ride off into the sunset. Bobby Pierce would rally and regain the lead with 10 laps to go and maneuver lap traffic to keep the field behind him. Pierce took home another $5,000 payday and locked up at least a share of the Bonus money. With winning his 3rd feature he locks up at least a $10,000 bonus with the opportunity to add to that today if he can put his Rocket XR1 in victory lane again today. He will have two chances as a double header is on tap today to make up last Sunday night's rain out.
In a post race interview Bobby said it was his hardest fought victory so far in the desert. Missing the setup just a bit Pierce claimed he had to get up on the wheel in order to put it back in Hoker Trucking victory lane. Bobby says he has to take one race at a time, qualify up front and he knows many other drivers want to leave Arizona with a win, so he will have to take more chances and really get up on the wheel rest the weekend.
Kyle Beard set overall fast time Friday night with a lap of 14.641 seconds. Heat race winners were Bobby Pierce, Hudson O'Neal, Kyle Beard & Jimmy Mars. Rodney Sanders picked up the victory in the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Border International Modified portion of the event. Josh Cain with the X-Mod win.
Doubleheader action at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway begins at 12pm Central with 1st show and approx 630pm Central for 2nd part of doubleheader. You can catch every lap of action at DirtonDirt.com.
