Rain Captures Lucas Race at Atomic Friday Night

(March 15, 2019) The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series looked to get back in action Friday night in Chillicothe, Ohio at Atomic Speedway. Mother Nature had her own plans haulting action before qualifying was complete. 32 Late Models signed in for the first time since East Bay for the Lucas Oil tour. Local Dresden, Ohio driver Devin Moran paced the field in hotlaps. It was Devin's first laps in the state of Ohio since taking over the Dunn Benson Motorsports ride before the 2019 season. In group A qualifying Hudson O'Neal was quickest with a lap of 12.949 seconds. Jimmy Owens was leading group B qualifying with lap of 13.293 seconds before the rain came.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will move on to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana tomorrow for the 22nd Annual Indiana Icebreaker. The start time of Saturday's event has been moved up to 5pm ET for Hotlaps. Jonathan Davenport will carry the points lead into Brownstown over Waverly, Texas young gun Tyler Erb.
